[00:00:02] Hey Waffle Gang, I do hope you're well. My name is Mark and today we're checking out some more Reddit stories. And if you do love a Reddit story, why not consider hitting that like, subscribe, maybe that notification bell too. And let's crack on with today's first story. Much love guys.
[00:00:18] Now, today's first story comes from Emotional Spirit493 and says, am I the arsehole here? I've given my husband's half cooked sister-in-law a reality check about a bullshit at a family gathering. My female 25 husband, male 29, has a very delusional sister-in-law, female 27, who we will call Kelly. Kelly is the girlfriend of my husband's late brother. They were not married but was allowed to be called sister-in-law for the sake of their four years.
[00:00:48] She was a 12-year-old son. Hence the title, half cooked sister-in-law. Kelly was actually a nice person at first, but her delusional tendencies just go over the top. She once had a cousin of my husband accused of seducing her. Because in her words, he was madly in love with her. Which was never true as he actually was the same to everyone else as he was with her. My issue started with her when she started targeting my husband and requesting all kinds of bullshit from him.
[00:01:18] She once asked him to sleep in their unit because she said her son was scared. Mind you, it only had one bed and it was on the floor in the middle of a tiny square room, which was the whole unit.
[00:01:31] We asked her to just come over to our home, which was bigger and had enough space for her to stay for a while. Since we also have a spare room, she and the child could use.
[00:01:40] She refused and insisted on my husband to come over. My husband refused and told his mom, who had Kelly go over to their house and stay for a while.
[00:01:49] Second incident was when she insisted that my husband should go with her and her child to the mall and spend some time together.
[00:01:56] Because according to her, she needs help because she's a helpless single mother with a fatherless child.
[00:02:02] And her child needs a father figure. My husband asked if I could go with them, but she made excuses why I can't go.
[00:02:09] My husband then outright refused and said to just bring the maid assigned to her kid.
[00:02:13] Because my mother-in-law sponsored a maid for them after all the things she complained about.
[00:02:18] After all that, Kelly starts to pick on things my husband likes.
[00:02:21] He likes that I wear skin-tight dresses and leggings because it complimented my bum.
[00:02:26] She started wearing the same clothes. My husband likes a certain food I make for him.
[00:02:31] She learns how to make the food and purposely making too much so she can give some to him in front of me.
[00:02:37] With a shit-eating smile. And it did not stop there.
[00:02:41] She also tries to copy me as much as she can.
[00:02:44] Whenever I buy something new, she buys the same thing the next three to four days.
[00:02:48] My husband and I like dogs, so I adopted a puppy.
[00:02:51] And what do you know? She has one a week after.
[00:02:54] She copies everything. Clothes, makeup, jewelry, etc.
[00:02:59] It was getting a little creepy.
[00:03:01] Until one day at a family gathering, she just outright stated that
[00:03:05] my husband's nephew, her child, looks so much like my husband and would pass off as his kid.
[00:03:12] And my husband looks nothing like his nephew.
[00:03:15] His nephew literally has his late father's face.
[00:03:18] Like it was copied and pasted.
[00:03:19] While my husband and his brother look nothing alike.
[00:03:22] I blurted a very audible, no they don't.
[00:03:25] Which was followed by my husband's sister saying,
[00:03:28] Are you blind? They look nothing like each other.
[00:03:31] I would say he has his father's face.
[00:03:33] Kelly then responded,
[00:03:34] Actually people would mistake them like a father and son.
[00:03:38] She then proceeds to whip out her phone and show the wallpaper of it as my husband and his nephew smiling together.
[00:03:43] I look at the phone and her and said,
[00:03:46] Oh, this is why you've been trying to get my husband's attention the whole time.
[00:03:50] Confused, my mother-in-law asked,
[00:03:52] What do you mean?
[00:03:52] I then casually said,
[00:03:54] Well, why didn't you ask Kelly?
[00:03:56] She's been trying to get my husband alone with her for some time now.
[00:03:59] Good thing your son's not an idiot.
[00:04:01] Kelly then shouts,
[00:04:03] What the hell is your problem?
[00:04:04] I was just trying to give my son some normalcy and experience having a family and a father.
[00:04:09] I said,
[00:04:10] By trying to take my husband.
[00:04:12] You're a homewrecker in the making,
[00:04:14] a stalker and a creep.
[00:04:15] No wonder no one would date you.
[00:04:17] God, your child would be better off without this whore of a mom in his life.
[00:04:21] I yelled back at her.
[00:04:23] I stood up and thanked everyone for their time and proceeded to leave with my husband.
[00:04:27] On the way home, my husband told me what I said wasn't nice.
[00:04:31] I asked him if he was defending her.
[00:04:33] He said no, but he said that Kelly deserves to be told off,
[00:04:36] but not in a humiliating manner,
[00:04:38] and definitely not in front of the kids.
[00:04:40] We didn't talk the rest of the way home.
[00:04:42] I'm now here typing this out in the toilet.
[00:04:45] I just really can't take her to Lulu self anymore and that's why I exploded.
[00:04:50] So am I,
[00:04:51] the a-hole?
[00:04:52] By the way,
[00:04:53] sorry if this sounds so confusing.
[00:04:55] English isn't my first language and I'm still learning.
[00:04:58] Update.
[00:04:59] Thanks for all the comments and votes.
[00:05:01] This will be a little update for what happened the past few hours.
[00:05:04] I get why I may be an a-hole,
[00:05:06] but with the feelings I had,
[00:05:08] not really possible.
[00:05:09] I'm quite the person with anger issues.
[00:05:11] It has died down a bit because I got some help and also the support of my husband.
[00:05:15] But there are times where you really just can't control it.
[00:05:19] By the way,
[00:05:20] my husband and I had a little talk about the incident.
[00:05:23] He said I wasn't wrong in the part of correcting her,
[00:05:26] but was wrong in the part where I've insulted her.
[00:05:28] He was just a little disappointed with how I handled the situation.
[00:05:32] Letting my anger take control of me.
[00:05:35] As for my mother-in-law,
[00:05:36] she called us and asked if I was okay.
[00:05:38] She did reprimand me of my actions,
[00:05:40] but was also sympathetic of the fact that I was offended by Kelly.
[00:05:44] She asked if Kelly and I could come over and have a talk,
[00:05:47] straighten things out and see if Kelly needs help.
[00:05:50] She explained how Kelly's actions may not be favorable,
[00:05:53] but a situation is something to feel pity to.
[00:05:57] Mother-in-law thought that losing her son,
[00:05:59] Kelly's husband-ish,
[00:06:01] and having to take care of her child alone was too much for her.
[00:06:04] Which is why she asked if it would be okay if I talked to Kelly
[00:06:07] and have her explain why what she did wasn't okay.
[00:06:10] And if Kelly refused to listen,
[00:06:12] then mother-in-law said she would have to handle it herself.
[00:06:15] As for my husband,
[00:06:16] he understands if I'm not ready to face Kelly,
[00:06:18] but tells me it would be the better option
[00:06:20] and suggests that we would go low contact with her for a while.
[00:06:24] Not completely cutting her off for the sake of the child.
[00:06:27] I'll update you guys if anything else happens.
[00:06:30] So in the comments below that,
[00:06:33] the sister of Kelly responds.
[00:06:36] Ah, sister of Kelly here.
[00:06:38] I don't think Lexi is the arsehole here.
[00:06:41] My sister has been a nuisance to everyone.
[00:06:43] You think she did all that because she's grieving?
[00:06:46] Hell no.
[00:06:47] She's been cheating on her boyfriend even before he died.
[00:06:50] She even wants to abort the kid
[00:06:52] because she doesn't know who the father might be.
[00:06:55] But she lucked out because the kid looks like her dead boyfriend.
[00:06:58] The bitch even went out of her way to steal my boyfriends.
[00:07:02] The last straw was my ex-fiancee
[00:07:03] whom she fucked after the death of her boyfriend.
[00:07:06] None of my family members would talk to her.
[00:07:09] They cut her off completely.
[00:07:10] I, on the other hand, keep tabs on her.
[00:07:12] She's batshit crazy.
[00:07:15] Lexi,
[00:07:15] tell me what time you're going to meet your mother-in-law and that witch.
[00:07:18] I'll be going with you.
[00:07:20] So,
[00:07:21] OP came in with her first update.
[00:07:23] They gave a TLDR of the last post first and says,
[00:07:26] So, I finally have an update for you guys.
[00:07:29] I went out to speak with mother-in-law and Kelly.
[00:07:32] She brought her kid.
[00:07:33] Along with my husband, Kelly's sister, Kayla,
[00:07:36] and Kelly's friend and neighbor,
[00:07:38] Pat.
[00:07:39] This all happened at mother-in-law's house.
[00:07:41] Might shorten some of the parts.
[00:07:43] Those who were wondering about father-in-law,
[00:07:45] he died due to COVID.
[00:07:47] Pat is Kayla's connection to Kelly and her nephew's life.
[00:07:50] Also, trigger warning about the things I'm about to mention.
[00:07:54] Also, to those who said it's not real.
[00:07:56] I really wish it wasn't,
[00:07:57] so things here won't be true.
[00:07:59] But they are.
[00:08:00] I even thought this kind of thing only happens on TV shows
[00:08:02] or in family court or Judge Judy or Jerry Springer
[00:08:05] or maybe Dr. Phil.
[00:08:07] And again,
[00:08:08] sorry if this sounds confusing.
[00:08:10] I'm besire and not really that great in English grammar.
[00:08:13] For starters,
[00:08:14] mother-in-law asked us about the incident
[00:08:16] and why it led to me name-calling Kelly
[00:08:18] but had us know that everything is being recorded by her.
[00:08:22] I told her that it may not be obvious to her
[00:08:24] but Kelly has been openly trying to get my husband's attention.
[00:08:28] Like how she wants him over at her house
[00:08:30] and how she wants to go somewhere with only the three of them
[00:08:33] to make it seem as though they are a perfect family.
[00:08:36] Kayla snort-laughed at the perfect family comment
[00:08:39] and said,
[00:08:40] Really?
[00:08:41] I thought you already have a guy for that.
[00:08:43] Wasn't his name David or was it Mitchell?
[00:08:45] Oh wait,
[00:08:47] it's gotta be Rashid.
[00:08:48] You know,
[00:08:48] the Indian guy you introduced your son to.
[00:08:51] The comment got my mother-in-law's attention
[00:08:53] asking Kayla what she meant.
[00:08:55] To which Kayla said,
[00:08:57] Do you know why Sam,
[00:08:58] late brother-in-law,
[00:08:59] didn't want to marry my sister,
[00:09:00] Mrs. Mother-in-law?
[00:09:01] It's because he knew of her cheating escapades
[00:09:04] and furthermore,
[00:09:06] Sam was my ex
[00:09:07] whom she stole by opening her legs.
[00:09:10] Mother-in-law then looked at Kelly
[00:09:11] to which she said
[00:09:12] it wasn't true
[00:09:13] and the reason why he won't marry her
[00:09:16] is because of Kayla.
[00:09:17] Because Kayla was seducing her husband.
[00:09:20] Sister-in-law chimed in to say,
[00:09:22] In which part are you his wife?
[00:09:23] You claim my brother is your husband
[00:09:25] and yet you were the reason why he died.
[00:09:28] Brother-in-law died of a heart attack
[00:09:30] after a very heated argument between them
[00:09:32] where she threatened to take the child
[00:09:34] and forbid him from ever seeing the kid.
[00:09:37] In our country,
[00:09:37] if the child is below seven,
[00:09:39] he must stay with the mother
[00:09:40] unless the mother is no longer capable.
[00:09:43] Kayla shouted,
[00:09:44] He was only waiting for the child
[00:09:46] to age at least seven
[00:09:47] to get him off your filthy,
[00:09:49] abusive claws.
[00:09:51] In all the chaos,
[00:09:52] mother-in-law is just sitting and shocked
[00:09:54] of all the revelation happening in front of her.
[00:09:57] She thought that she can redeem Kelly's character
[00:10:00] in the talk,
[00:10:01] but turns out
[00:10:01] there's no redeeming qualities in her.
[00:10:04] So when Kayla said something about Kelly
[00:10:06] abusing her young son,
[00:10:07] she just couldn't hold it
[00:10:09] and slapped the shit out of Kelly
[00:10:11] which made Kelly fall over.
[00:10:13] I'm not mentioning the abuse
[00:10:14] the child went through.
[00:10:15] It's quite horrific
[00:10:16] and will only be available to our lawyer.
[00:10:19] Kelly stood up with tears and anger
[00:10:21] and said,
[00:10:21] Fine,
[00:10:22] you want that bastard of a child?
[00:10:24] You can have him.
[00:10:25] Swallow him up if you can.
[00:10:26] I don't need extra baggage to be with me
[00:10:28] and took off leaving the child
[00:10:30] in my mother-in-law's care.
[00:10:32] Mother-in-law almost had a heart attack
[00:10:34] after everything was happened.
[00:10:35] She was so mad
[00:10:37] that she had been the reason
[00:10:38] why this was going on.
[00:10:39] In her words,
[00:10:41] I encouraged her to stay
[00:10:42] for the sake of the child.
[00:10:43] I should have filed for custody
[00:10:44] even before.
[00:10:46] We told her it wasn't her fault.
[00:10:48] She was just concerned
[00:10:49] about the child
[00:10:49] since he'd just lost his father.
[00:10:51] But after that,
[00:10:52] mother-in-law called up
[00:10:53] her lawyer friend
[00:10:54] and asked for help
[00:10:55] for getting custody of the child.
[00:10:57] She is now on the process
[00:10:58] of filing for custody
[00:10:59] for the basis
[00:11:00] that the mother is a danger
[00:11:01] to her child
[00:11:02] and had Kayla and Pat
[00:11:04] as witnesses
[00:11:04] for the abuse case.
[00:11:06] We also had a therapist
[00:11:07] scheduled for the boy
[00:11:08] to help him process
[00:11:09] everything that's currently happening
[00:11:11] and for him to recover
[00:11:12] from the abuse.
[00:11:13] My husband,
[00:11:14] on the other hand,
[00:11:15] wanted to get the child
[00:11:16] and adopt him as our own
[00:11:17] after everything settles down.
[00:11:19] This might be my last update.
[00:11:21] It's not.
[00:11:22] But we'll be posting
[00:11:23] if anything comes up.
[00:11:24] Thank you,
[00:11:25] internet strangers,
[00:11:26] for letting me share
[00:11:27] this very unusual
[00:11:28] and crazy situation I had.
[00:11:31] Ice Ship says on the back
[00:11:32] of this one,
[00:11:33] indeed,
[00:11:33] there's more action
[00:11:34] than in many series.
[00:11:36] Poor child,
[00:11:37] who are all finally
[00:11:38] free of the witch.
[00:11:39] But are you sure
[00:11:40] that the child
[00:11:41] is really of the late brother?
[00:11:43] OP says yes.
[00:11:45] If you can only see
[00:11:46] his father's old photos
[00:11:47] in him right now,
[00:11:48] you'll know.
[00:11:49] They really look alike.
[00:11:51] Then OP came in
[00:11:52] with their last update
[00:11:54] and says,
[00:11:55] I'm making this post
[00:11:55] to address people's concerns
[00:11:57] and also about the things
[00:11:58] that happened
[00:11:59] after the filing.
[00:12:00] So for the people
[00:12:01] who asked if Kayla and Pat
[00:12:03] knew of Kelly's abuse
[00:12:04] to her child,
[00:12:05] why they didn't report it?
[00:12:07] Well,
[00:12:07] they did actually.
[00:12:08] And Kayla was the one
[00:12:09] who reported it
[00:12:10] after Pat had told her.
[00:12:12] She even had pictures
[00:12:13] of the bruise the kid had.
[00:12:14] But after she reported it,
[00:12:16] the officers who went in
[00:12:17] to do a welfare check
[00:12:18] didn't find anything.
[00:12:20] It was explained by Kelly
[00:12:21] that the kid
[00:12:22] was just too clumsy
[00:12:23] and the bruises
[00:12:24] were a result of it.
[00:12:26] They believed her statement
[00:12:27] without asking the kid
[00:12:28] and left without
[00:12:29] any further investigation.
[00:12:31] Furthermore,
[00:12:32] Kelly filed for harassment
[00:12:33] against Kayla.
[00:12:34] So Pat was the only way
[00:12:35] Kayla was able
[00:12:36] to keep tabs on the kid
[00:12:37] and Kelly.
[00:12:38] She documented the abuse
[00:12:40] along the way.
[00:12:41] We also found out
[00:12:42] that she was toxic to Sam,
[00:12:44] accusing him of cheating,
[00:12:46] also laying hands on him.
[00:12:48] The guy was too nice
[00:12:49] to lay hands on a woman.
[00:12:50] Yes,
[00:12:51] they got that from their mom.
[00:12:52] The cheating part
[00:12:53] might be from their dad.
[00:12:55] He cheated on mother-in-law
[00:12:56] multiple times.
[00:12:58] Twice when she got pregnant
[00:12:59] with Frideline,
[00:13:00] husband's sister,
[00:13:02] and another kid
[00:13:03] which mother-in-law
[00:13:04] miscarried
[00:13:04] due to finding out
[00:13:05] about father-in-law's
[00:13:06] infidelity again.
[00:13:07] As for those who ask
[00:13:08] of how brother-in-law died,
[00:13:10] I don't really mean
[00:13:11] he died then and there.
[00:13:13] He was hospitalized
[00:13:14] after suffering
[00:13:15] a heart attack
[00:13:15] and then died.
[00:13:17] Brother-in-law
[00:13:18] wasn't really the type
[00:13:19] to follow his diet
[00:13:20] so might be the reason
[00:13:21] as to why his health
[00:13:22] dropped so rapidly.
[00:13:24] While hospitalized,
[00:13:25] we found out
[00:13:25] he was diabetic as well.
[00:13:27] A result of a very
[00:13:29] unhealthy way of living.
[00:13:30] He drinks soda
[00:13:31] like it's water
[00:13:32] and rarely eats anything
[00:13:33] healthy but fast food.
[00:13:35] He doesn't really
[00:13:36] drink his meds on time
[00:13:37] because he believes
[00:13:38] it's going to kill him
[00:13:39] one day.
[00:13:40] So for the events
[00:13:42] after the filing,
[00:13:43] sister-in-law,
[00:13:44] Friedeline and her husband
[00:13:45] came to our house
[00:13:46] for a visit.
[00:13:47] We had a little talk
[00:13:48] and sister-in-law's husband
[00:13:49] went to have a word
[00:13:50] with my husband.
[00:13:52] According to my husband,
[00:13:53] he was asked
[00:13:54] why he never stopped
[00:13:54] Kelly's crazy antics
[00:13:56] from the beginning
[00:13:56] as sister-in-law's husband
[00:13:58] did when she started
[00:13:59] to flirt with him.
[00:14:00] My husband replied
[00:14:01] that he thought Kelly
[00:14:02] is a grieving widow
[00:14:03] with a fatherless child.
[00:14:05] He doesn't want
[00:14:06] to offend her
[00:14:06] as he thought
[00:14:07] it was just a way
[00:14:08] of coping with the loss.
[00:14:10] To which I replied,
[00:14:11] so you really aren't
[00:14:12] an idiot.
[00:14:12] Just a little bit.
[00:14:14] He was a little offended
[00:14:15] but accepted still.
[00:14:17] As he said,
[00:14:18] he should have stopped
[00:14:18] things as soon as
[00:14:19] he thought it was
[00:14:19] getting a little too awkward.
[00:14:22] Sister-in-law,
[00:14:23] Freeline,
[00:14:24] had also talked to me
[00:14:25] about the kid.
[00:14:26] She asked us
[00:14:27] not to adopt him
[00:14:28] as it might be
[00:14:28] a complication
[00:14:29] in the near future.
[00:14:30] I asked why
[00:14:31] as the child
[00:14:32] does not inherit
[00:14:33] the sins of its mother.
[00:14:34] She said that
[00:14:35] it might be true
[00:14:36] but deciding
[00:14:36] not to adopt the child
[00:14:37] and leave him
[00:14:38] with mother-in-law
[00:14:39] would be the better option
[00:14:40] as it won't fuel
[00:14:41] any more of Kelly's
[00:14:43] crazy and toxic behavior.
[00:14:44] I told her
[00:14:45] I would talk this out
[00:14:46] with my husband
[00:14:46] and try to make him
[00:14:48] consider all factors
[00:14:49] at play.
[00:14:50] So I'm now going
[00:14:51] to talk things out
[00:14:52] with my husband
[00:14:52] first thing tomorrow morning.
[00:14:55] I just hope he understands
[00:14:56] and will accept
[00:14:57] sister-in-law suggestions.
[00:14:58] Wish me luck
[00:14:59] and will update
[00:15:00] as soon as I can
[00:15:01] with what's happening.
[00:15:02] Also,
[00:15:03] I think I might be pregnant.
[00:15:04] I haven't had my period
[00:15:05] for three days now
[00:15:06] and I'm really craving
[00:15:07] for mango dipped
[00:15:08] and vanilla rice cream
[00:15:09] with chili toppings.
[00:15:12] Random little twist
[00:15:12] at the end there?
[00:15:13] And there were
[00:15:14] some interesting questions
[00:15:16] about Opie's husband
[00:15:18] in this story.
[00:15:18] Patchend asks
[00:15:19] and pretty much
[00:15:20] sums them up.
[00:15:21] Says,
[00:15:21] I'm interested
[00:15:22] in Opie's husband's reactions.
[00:15:23] One,
[00:15:25] he let the flirting
[00:15:25] go forever
[00:15:26] and never said
[00:15:27] anything about it.
[00:15:28] Two,
[00:15:29] dismissed Opie's
[00:15:30] his wife's concerns
[00:15:31] about the flirting.
[00:15:32] Three,
[00:15:33] immediately said
[00:15:34] we're adopting
[00:15:35] that child
[00:15:35] when before his mouth
[00:15:37] was shut on everything.
[00:15:38] Four,
[00:15:39] brother-in-law
[00:15:39] and sister-in-law
[00:15:40] awesome name by the way
[00:15:42] went directly to Hubs
[00:15:43] to ask him
[00:15:44] why he didn't do
[00:15:45] anything before
[00:15:45] as if they are suspicious.
[00:15:48] Five,
[00:15:49] Opie is worried
[00:15:50] about the Hubs reaction
[00:15:50] when they're asking
[00:15:51] to adopt the kid
[00:15:52] but no one has said
[00:15:53] is close to the kid
[00:15:54] in any way.
[00:15:56] No one has said
[00:15:56] how great of an uncle
[00:15:58] Hubs has been.
[00:15:59] There hasn't been
[00:15:59] one mention of Hubs
[00:16:01] and kid interacting
[00:16:02] through this whole thing.
[00:16:03] Why does Hubs
[00:16:04] have a strong opinion now?
[00:16:07] Hubs
[00:16:07] is sus.
[00:16:09] I had a bit of a random thought
[00:16:11] as they was talking
[00:16:12] about the whole adoption thing
[00:16:13] and if they was
[00:16:14] to adopt the kid
[00:16:15] and Kelly found out
[00:16:16] it's kind of like
[00:16:17] Kelly's fantasy
[00:16:18] at the very start.
[00:16:19] Sounds like
[00:16:19] dangerous territory.
[00:16:20] Of course,
[00:16:21] I want what's best
[00:16:22] for the kid
[00:16:22] in this situation.
[00:16:23] Absolutely.
[00:16:24] It sounds like
[00:16:24] they've been through
[00:16:25] a hell of a lot.
[00:16:27] What do you guys
[00:16:28] make of this situation?
[00:16:30] Let us know
[00:16:30] your thoughts down
[00:16:32] in the comments below
[00:16:34] and let's move on
[00:16:35] to another story.
[00:16:37] And our next story
[00:16:38] is a short story
[00:16:39] but I like
[00:16:40] the title on it.
[00:16:41] It's from the
[00:16:42] Am I the Arsehole
[00:16:43] subreddit
[00:16:43] from Soothe Speakers
[00:16:45] who says
[00:16:45] Am I the Arsehole
[00:16:47] for telling an acquaintance
[00:16:48] I don't really give a shit
[00:16:50] about their kids.
[00:16:52] Oh,
[00:16:53] you know it's gonna be
[00:16:54] a disaster
[00:16:54] straight away,
[00:16:55] right?
[00:16:56] At a bar with friends
[00:16:58] all sitting around
[00:16:59] the table
[00:16:59] all in our 30s.
[00:17:01] We do this like
[00:17:02] once or twice a month.
[00:17:04] There is a woman
[00:17:05] I'll name Joan
[00:17:06] who is a new girlfriend
[00:17:07] of one of my friends.
[00:17:08] She has kids
[00:17:09] from a previous marriage
[00:17:10] and they are doing
[00:17:11] well together.
[00:17:13] Now,
[00:17:13] I have a dog
[00:17:14] right now,
[00:17:15] not kids.
[00:17:15] Whenever I tell a story
[00:17:16] about the dog
[00:17:17] this twat
[00:17:19] is this a Brit?
[00:17:20] It feels like a Brit
[00:17:21] just always rolls her eyes
[00:17:23] and tries to change
[00:17:24] her subject
[00:17:24] to her children
[00:17:25] or children in general.
[00:17:27] The other night
[00:17:28] I called her out on this
[00:17:29] asking why dude
[00:17:30] always seems to not
[00:17:31] want to listen
[00:17:32] to a funny dog story.
[00:17:33] She says
[00:17:34] I just don't really
[00:17:35] care much about dogs.
[00:17:37] Which Opie responds
[00:17:39] I don't really care
[00:17:40] much about your kids
[00:17:41] but I considerately
[00:17:42] listen to your stories
[00:17:43] regardless.
[00:17:44] She kind of gasped
[00:17:46] like I just called
[00:17:47] her the C word.
[00:17:48] Like me saying
[00:17:49] that was some horrible
[00:17:50] thing for a person
[00:17:51] to say.
[00:17:52] Needless to say
[00:17:53] things got awkward
[00:17:54] and my wife and I
[00:17:55] left 10 minutes
[00:17:55] after that conversation.
[00:17:57] My friends are split.
[00:17:59] Some say
[00:17:59] I could have phrased
[00:18:00] it better.
[00:18:01] I don't know.
[00:18:02] Am I
[00:18:03] the asshole?
[00:18:04] To me
[00:18:04] that was just
[00:18:05] a bit of give and take
[00:18:06] you know
[00:18:07] your response to her
[00:18:08] should have just
[00:18:09] been responded with
[00:18:09] yeah alright
[00:18:10] fair enough.
[00:18:11] You know
[00:18:12] it's just simple as that.
[00:18:13] You weren't rude about it.
[00:18:14] You didn't swear to her.
[00:18:16] You just gave her a bit
[00:18:17] of what she was giving.
[00:18:18] I feel like it could have
[00:18:19] been to any topic
[00:18:20] that you were talking about
[00:18:21] if she said that
[00:18:22] you could have literally
[00:18:23] responded with something
[00:18:24] that you're not into
[00:18:25] but you'll listen to anyway
[00:18:26] because you know
[00:18:27] we're human
[00:18:28] we're just having a conversation
[00:18:29] and getting to know each other.
[00:18:30] And the fact that she was
[00:18:31] rolling her eyes
[00:18:32] at the same time
[00:18:33] it just kind of says
[00:18:34] the kind of person they are.
[00:18:36] Someone that I wouldn't
[00:18:37] want to be around
[00:18:38] but Hull says
[00:18:39] not the asshole.
[00:18:40] You didn't use
[00:18:41] foul language or anything.
[00:18:42] You just called out
[00:18:43] her crappy behavior.
[00:18:45] Opie says
[00:18:46] I wanted to say
[00:18:46] shitty kids
[00:18:47] but that definitely
[00:18:48] would have made me
[00:18:49] the asshole.
[00:18:51] Redditor
[00:18:52] Deadditor
[00:18:52] says
[00:18:52] not the asshole
[00:18:53] but to be fair
[00:18:54] the people without
[00:18:55] dogs or kids
[00:18:56] could find you
[00:18:56] both insufferable.
[00:18:58] Sometimes dog owners
[00:18:59] can be annoying about it
[00:19:00] like parents can be.
[00:19:02] Katara Rose
[00:19:03] says
[00:19:03] not the asshole.
[00:19:04] She's been rude
[00:19:05] by rolling her eyes
[00:19:06] and changing the subject
[00:19:07] back to her kids.
[00:19:08] You were blunt
[00:19:09] but not rude.
[00:19:10] Yes you could have
[00:19:11] been less direct
[00:19:12] but I don't think
[00:19:12] you did anything wrong.
[00:19:14] She needs to learn
[00:19:15] how to listen to
[00:19:15] what other people
[00:19:16] have to say
[00:19:16] and not just talk
[00:19:17] about herself
[00:19:18] all the time.
[00:19:19] That's how adult
[00:19:20] relationships work.
[00:19:22] Blue Colt says
[00:19:23] everyone sucks here.
[00:19:24] I'm a parent
[00:19:25] and also a lifelong
[00:19:26] dog and cat owner.
[00:19:27] You both sound tiresome.
[00:19:31] Dog stories
[00:19:32] are not interesting
[00:19:34] even though I love
[00:19:35] and own dogs.
[00:19:36] They're just dogs.
[00:19:37] But I also understand
[00:19:38] that kids stories
[00:19:39] are not interesting
[00:19:39] to non-parents
[00:19:40] so I try to know
[00:19:42] my audience.
[00:19:43] I have all three
[00:19:44] kids, dogs, cats
[00:19:46] and really don't talk
[00:19:47] too much about them
[00:19:48] in mixed company.
[00:19:49] There's so many more
[00:19:50] inclusive things
[00:19:51] to talk about
[00:19:52] in a group.
[00:19:53] A cheeky little
[00:19:55] everyone sucks here
[00:19:56] to finish it off with
[00:19:57] but now
[00:19:58] I'm gonna turn
[00:19:59] this one to you guys.
[00:20:00] What do you guys
[00:20:01] make of this situation?
[00:20:04] Not the asshole.
[00:20:05] You're the asshole.
[00:20:05] A cheeky little
[00:20:07] everyone sucks here.
[00:20:08] Let us know your
[00:20:09] thoughts down
[00:20:09] in the comments below
[00:20:11] and just a huge
[00:20:12] thank you for being
[00:20:12] here today.
[00:20:13] Getting involved
[00:20:14] in the stories
[00:20:14] your love,
[00:20:15] your support,
[00:20:15] your time
[00:20:16] always means
[00:20:17] the absolute world
[00:20:18] to me.
[00:20:18] So thank you so so much
[00:20:19] for being involved
[00:20:20] and hopefully
[00:20:20] I'll see you
[00:20:21] in the next one.
[00:20:22] Take care
[00:20:23] and much love.
[00:20:24] Yeah,
[00:20:25] man I remember
[00:20:26] being so naive
[00:20:27] when life was good
[00:20:28] weather and palm trees
[00:20:29] back in the day
[00:20:30] you were everything I need
[00:20:32] but then along came a time
[00:20:34] when you crushed my dreams
[00:20:35] oh yeah you played me
[00:20:36] like a fool
[00:20:36] when you made me believe
[00:20:37] that the line between love
[00:20:39] was ridiculous
[00:20:40] oh yeah you see
[00:20:41] we into spare
[00:20:42] crime everywhere
[00:20:43] you're selling false hope
[00:20:44] cause you just don't care
