[00:01:21] She's always been more of my wife's friend than me, best friend from childhood etc.

[00:01:25] So it's never really bothered me.

[00:01:28] A few years ago someone tangentially part of our friend group that I only semi-knew

[00:01:33] confided in Kate that I solicited her for nudes.

[00:01:37] This person I only talked to maybe once or twice and it was only ever about her art, although

[00:01:42] it's worth mentioning she has a good side hustle drawing hentai.

[00:01:47] All I ever really said was she was talented at it and I liked her art.

[00:01:52] I guess one of the pieces I particularly liked was her self-portrait.

[00:01:55] I won't get into the details but it looked nothing like her and was an anime girl, so

[00:02:00] I'm not sure how I would know that.

[00:02:03] Kate told my wife about this, who spent a week being upset about it before telling me.

[00:02:08] I showed her the chats we had and that was the end of it.

[00:02:40] A few months later Kate decided to take it upon herself to then tell wife I asked to

[00:02:45] see pictures of her feet.

[00:02:47] Admittedly, I have a foot fetish, something my wife divulged to her which I'm not particularly

[00:02:53] cool with but I'm not super ashamed of it or anything so I don't care all that much.

[00:02:58] The conversation Kate, in my opinion, misconstrued was her venting about how frustrating and

[00:03:04] objectifying it is that she feels like every guy wants to see her naked and all I did was

[00:03:09] sympathize with that and said something along the lines of yeah I mean I'll admit there's

[00:03:13] a split second intrusive thought about that I'll get when I meet people but it's probably

[00:03:18] some caveman lizard brain shit.

[00:03:20] When my wife brought it up I again showed her the messages and she agreed it was a misunderstanding.

[00:03:26] Although when she brought it back to Kate, trying to mediate the situation rather than

[00:03:30] defending it as a misunderstanding, Kate was adamant and was subtly fishing for nudes and

[00:03:36] feet pics.

[00:03:37] Wife didn't ask for this but I let her go through all the messages again on my phone

[00:03:42] and computer and she found nothing.

[00:03:44] Kate decided to cut contact with me and I haven't heard from her since.

[00:03:49] Edit, I commented this below but here's the exact conversation I had with Kate.

[00:03:55] Kate said, I'm just so sick of it.

[00:03:57] Like one of the guys from work I told you about, the mentor guy.

[00:04:01] He offers to take me to a place he knows to find something to wear to the presentation

[00:04:07] So I go with him and we're looking and he keeps joking that we should look at lingerie.

[00:05:46] get out much and I don't want to be some controlling asshole telling her who she can

[00:05:52] I just hate the feeling I have to be on guard when she's around and I particularly hate

[00:05:56] that my wife who agreed it was a misunderstanding on Kate's part and probably poor wording

[00:06:03] I haven't told her to stop being friends with Kate but I have mentioned that maybe

[00:06:07] she shouldn't invite Kate around if I'm home or if we're going somewhere and Kate

[00:12:12] She read through it and some of the comments.

[00:12:14] I think she had a bit of a coming to Jesus moment as she came and sat down and agreed

[00:12:19] that Kate has been acting weird about this whole situation.

[00:12:23] We talked it out and I admitted I wasn't comfortable with Kate anymore and wouldn't

[00:12:27] stand in the way of them being friends but I don't want her coming around the house

[00:12:34] Not bring Kate here anymore and 2.

[00:12:36] Have a talk with Kate about what her problem is.

[00:12:39] Over the long weekend we decided to forgo our usual tradition of going to one of our

[00:12:43] parents for a big meal and just stayed in and ordered takeout.

[00:12:48] Wife and Kate made plans to hang out too which was fine as I had some personal hobby stuff

[00:12:54] Kate apparently did not take being told she can't come over when I'm home very well

[00:12:58] because she sent me a long message how I'm controlling and abusive.

[00:13:03] Wife snapped and called her.

[00:13:06] I didn't listen in or anything but wife told me that she set Kate straight and basically

[00:13:10] told her she needs to cut the shit and apologize to me or she'll cut out Kate.

[00:14:34] I think this is where my wife started piecing together what some of the comments were saying

[00:14:38] about Kate being a shit stirrer.

[00:14:40] Put the phone on speaker and flat out asked if Kate did it on purpose.

[00:16:18] I was flying in the window seat because I like looking out the window.

[00:16:21] The woman sitting next to me reached in front of me multiple times to close the window shade.

[00:16:27] She never asked me just reached directly in front of me to close the shade.

[00:16:30] I would immediately reopen it and a few minutes later she'd reach in front of me again to

[00:16:35] close it.

[00:16:36] It was a noon domestic short haul flight so no reason to need darkness in the middle of

[00:16:41] the day and absolutely no excuse for violating my personal space multiple times without asking

[00:16:46] me or acknowledging me or treating me like a human in any way.

[00:16:50] So I pulled out my book and turned on the reading light despite there being ample natural

[00:16:56] light from the open window for me to read.

[00:16:58] I then positioned my hand in such a way that my watch would reflect the reading light directly

[00:17:03] into her eyes.

[00:17:04] I read like that for an hour jiggling my hand the entire time so it would shine the light

[00:17:10] back and forth across her eyes and be super distracting and annoying.

[00:17:14] Once we landed she took her headphones off.

[00:17:17] I turned to her and said next time you fly book a window seat if you want to control the

[00:17:21] window or at least treat me like a human and ask me before you violate my personal space.

[00:17:27] What you did is unbelievably rude.

[00:17:29] She looked so offended and naturally she walked 2 miles per hour.

[00:17:35] Being a city walker I easily got in front of her then once we were on the moving walkway

[00:17:39] I stopped immediately in front of her.

[00:17:41] Did the same on the escalator to the curb before flipping her off the entire way to my ride.

[00:17:48] Wanted to make a slight clarification that I was subtly flipping her off by extending

[00:17:52] my middle finger or holding the handle of my bag so it was upside down and you only

[00:17:59] would have noticed if you were looking at my hand.

[00:18:04] I was angry and it was a subtle way for me to voice my anger and get it out of my system.

[00:18:09] Reminds me of those ways when you get told off when you're younger and you stick the

[00:18:17] Like they probably never notice it but to yourself you're like yeah fuck you.

[00:18:26] Instead of just doing the human thing, turning across to the person sat next to the window

[00:18:30] and saying excuse me do you mind if we just shut the window and then give your reason

[00:18:36] Just reaching across to someone and shutting it.

[00:18:39] It's just bizarre ass behavior to me.

[00:18:42] It's like why would you do that?

[00:18:44] The watch tactic was pretty spot on though.

[00:18:46] I like the way that it continued off the plane as well.

[00:18:50] I'm also glad that Opie did call them out in the very end saying what you did was unbelievably

[00:18:59] I always prefer a call out like that rather than swearing at them and getting in their

[00:19:05] Just telling them that was absolutely disgusting what you did.

[00:19:23] Back in my much younger and much more physically fit days, someone kept reaching across me

[00:19:30] He would open it, I would close it, rinse and repeat.

[00:19:34] On the fourth attempt, I grabbed his scrawny arm and said one word, don't.

[00:19:39] Surprisingly he didn't.

[00:19:41] One of the rare times I've intimidated someone physically.

[00:19:45] Phil Andrews says I sat next to a woman in the middle seat a few months ago, me in the

[00:19:49] middle, her in the window.

[00:19:51] She had sparkly stuff on her sweater and kept the shade up the whole time.

[00:19:55] When she bent over to get something out of the seat pocket, our entire section of the

[00:19:59] plane looked like it was lit up by a disco ball.

[00:20:02] It was quite a trick to film that without her noticing.

[00:20:05] It was a fun flight.

[00:20:08] One final comment says my daughter was in the window and the guy next to her in the middle

[00:20:11] seat did that.

[00:20:13] When I walked by, I noticed the shade closed and her looking miserable.

[00:20:16] Knowing that, like me as a nervous flyer, the window provides me with some comfort.

[00:20:21] I asked her why she closed it.

[00:20:23] She just gave me a shrug.

[00:20:25] When I was in line for the bathroom, she told me what happened.

[00:20:28] I told her to open the shade back up and let me know if there were any issues.

[00:20:31] He tried to close it again but she very politely told him she wants to keep it open.

[00:20:36] When we landed, we got off the plane.

[00:20:38] I told him that not only does he not have the right to close the shade but how dare

[00:20:42] he invade a teenage girl's space and just take over.

[00:20:46] His wife looked mortified and he was so stunned he stood in silence for a minute before he

[00:20:50] started walking.

[00:20:51] Who do these people think they are?

[00:20:55] I see a lot of these videos going around these days and I can never quite work out if it's

[00:20:59] just rage bait or not where people were hanging their hair over like in front of the person

[00:21:03] behind them.
